Roy Morgan has played the guitar for the past 42 years, starting at age 14 with the help of his mother, who played the piano. After he turned 15, Roy spent the following three years playing with a rock band that performed frequently at clubs, dances and other venues. In the early 70s and into
the 80s, he played with numerous small folk ensembles, mostly visiting churches and youth camps. In the early 90s, he seriously studied
classical guitar with University Professor and concert performer, Bill Matthews. He extensively studied numerous method and instructions books
for classical, jazz, finger-style folk music and bluegrass with the purpose of performing and teaching these different styles of music.
In 2001, Roy practiced and performed with the Connecticut Classical Guitar society ensemble, and for the past few years, he has been working
and performing with soprano, Seiko Lee of the New York City Symphony, and flautist, Yuichi Tanabe. He has been providing guitar instruction for ten years
and recently began offering lessons for both the banjo and mandolin. He has been teaching at NY School of Music for the past two and a half years.
