Dave Miele graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science, Music Theory & Composition in 2000. His educational career brought him to
Purchase College, where he graduated with a Master of Music degree in 2003.
In addition to being a Senior Piano Instructor, as well as a drum instructor at NY School of Music, Dave is also an Adjunct Professor at Orange Country Community College. He has performed as a
freelance drummer with such Hudson Valley acts as The Chris Parker Trio, The Michael Jackson Quartet and The Dan Bradley Big Band. He also worked as a substitute
drummer with national recording artist John Eddie (Columbia Records).
He has been chosen as the "Instructor of the Year" at NYSM for the past three years.
He has self-produced his own jazz cd, Three White Boys: Warts
and All (2003), and in 2000, his five piece movement for chamber
orchestra, titled "The Inside Variations", was selected
for the closing of the Student Composer’s Concert.
Dave has been able to channel his passion for music and the written
word as a contributing writer for both Modern Drummer Magazine
and Jazz Improv Magazine for several years.
